Niles Harris and Dieter Schmitz
InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown has welcomed Harris (right) as general manager and Schmitz (left) as hotel manager. Harris has served 30 years in the hospitality industry, having worked at places such as the AAA Five Diamond The Helmsley Palace (now New York Palace Hotel) and Essex House New York, both in New York City. He’s served in other leadership positions for various properties—including Nikko, Omni, IHG Wyndham and Starwood—in major cities across the United States. He received the “Make Your Mark” General Manager of the Year Award.
Schmitz has been on the opening team of six hotels across the United States. He most recently served with InterContinental Hotel Group in New York City as area general manager for Even Hotel Times Square South, Even Hotel Midtown East and Crowne Plaza Midtown Manhattan; he served on the opening team at both Even hotels.
Domingo Velasco and Michael Ryan
Ryan (right) and Velasco (left) have joined Celino South Beach as general manager and director of sales and marketing, respectively. Ryan’s career began in his native Dublin at The Clarence Hotel. He’s held various high-level positions throughout his career, such as hotel manager at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC and executive roles at The Raleigh Hotel and Soho South Beach, both in Miami Beach. Before joining Celino South Beach, Ryan served as general manager at Belize Ocean Club in Placentia.
Recently, Velasco served as director of sales and marketing at Delano South Beach in Miami Beach and The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Velasco’s hospitality career began in Puerto Rico, at El San Juan Hotel. He’s worked for various luxury hotel brands, including Relais & Chateaux and Rosewood Caribbean Resorts, as well as The Carlyle hotel in New York City.
Rosaline Verhoog and Crystal Wagner
Verhoog (right) is the group sales manager of Kimpton Hotel Solamar in San Diego. She recently served as executive meeting sales manager at Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa in California. She’s held a variety of roles at other San Diego properties, such as W San Diego, The US Grant and Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina.
Wagner (left) has been promoted to executive meetings manager from her position as sales coordinator. She will also manage social media marketing for the property. She joined the Kimpton team in 2016 as a guest services agent. Before Wagner began at Kimpton, she held various positions in retail and sales management for more than 15 years.
