In 1972, businessman Fillmore Crank built The Garland hotel as a symbol of love for his wife, actress Beverly Garland. The bucolic seven-acre property first served as a North Hollywood hideaway for famous friends, family and guests. But when Crank passed away in 1999, the actress stepped in, merging her film star career to manage the namesake hotel. In homage to the actress and muse, movie posters of her past productions and feature films scale the walls of the brand new 1,800-square-foot Beverly Garland Theatre. The private screening room has Dolby surround sound and seating for up to 130. It is available to rent for events and meetings.
Today, the Spanish-Mission style resort remains in the family and is managed by Garland’s son, James Crank. Last summer, the hotel completed a major $20 million renovation, transforming its spaces to reflect a sophisticated, bohemian California vibe while preserving the style and legacy. Vibrant colors and rich textures, along with eclectic accent pieces, add a retro feel to The Garland’s 257 guest rooms and suites and more than 16,000 sq. ft. of event space.
The newest outdoor addition is Beverly Park, a romantic dining and reception venue featuring a picturesque secret garden surrounded by a canopy of trees.
