Stretching from Ventura to Monterey, this region is famous for its vivid miles of coastline dotted with a variety of meeting spots. Numerous activities round out the Central Coast’s offerings, from a visit to the Channel Islands or a local winery to more strenuous pursuits such as biking and surfing.
“The region’s natural beauty, combined with phenomenal meeting services, puts this area on the cutting edge of the industry,” says Anne Auburn, national account director for the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau and an executive board member of the Central Coast Tourism Council. “With Silicon Valley in our backyard and the Pacific Ocean in our front yard, it’s a place where innovation and adventure intersect.”
- Three major airports are within a few hours of California’s Central Coast: San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). All three airports are served by major airlines such as Delta, Southwest and US Airways.
- Regional airports include the renovated Santa Barbara Airport (SBA), Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY), San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SLO) and Ventura County’s Oxnard Airport (OXR).
- The coastal area also is served by Amtrak and Metrolink.
