For a live demonstration of what “the world’s most welcoming events” can feel like, I dropped in on a Hilton Live customer event at Hilton Chicago in May and found the ballroom activated with colorful examples of ways to put everyone at ease—regardless of generation, budget and reason for gathering.

Chicago’s luxury address is Waldorf Astoria Chicago in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Imagine sweeping staircases, generous rooms with an abundance of marble and fireplaces, along with 5-star service.
The “approachable luxury” Signia brand is one of the company’s growth areas, with Indianapolis and Signia Tainan in Taiwan scheduled to open in 2026.

Hilton Chicago is one of the city’s largest, sitting on Lake Michigan near Soldier Field. It boasts 1,544 guest rooms and has been hosting royalty and other dignitaries since 1927. It opened with a 1,200-seat movie theatre and a 27-chair barber shop. Today, the chandelier-capped Grand Ballroom anchors a diverse collection of 50 event spaces totaling 234,000 sq. ft. of gathering opportunities.
Hilton Chicago is part of the full-service line of hotels that includes DoubleTree by Hilton, featuring premium amenities such as spa and wellness services and upgraded food and beverage outlets. At Hilton Chicago, Kitty O’Shea’s Irish pub offers the largest whiskey menu in town.
Lifestyle brands that reflect local vibes include LondonHouse Chicago, Curio Collection by Hilton, located in the 1923 London Guarantee & Accident Beaux-Arts building, famous for its rooftop bar with granite griffins overlooking the Chicago River and skyline.

Other lifestyle brands in the Hilton family include Canopy, Tapestry and Graduate.
Focused service options such as Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton, tru by Hilton and spark by Hilton offer convenient stays with breakfast offerings, small meeting and event spaces and self-sufficiency for guests.
Event Etiquette
The EventReady Knowledge Hub offers tips on everything from setting speakers up for success to event safety. The Hilton Live event focused on sharing expectations in advance with demonstrations of what “business casual” and cocktail attire really mean. Spelling out what it covers—and what it doesn’t (dress pants, dress or skirt, loafers, flats, hip sneakers or heels but not athleisure, shorts or leggings for the former) with photos will help attendees new to the conference scenes pack with confidence.

Hilton Senior Vice President and Global Head of Sales Frank Passanante stressed the importance of clarity in communicating with attendees and hotel partners to set everyone up for success.
