Updated 9/22 with details about “The Fabulous 5-Day Sale.”

We have all heard the quote attributed to Yogi Berra, “No one goes there, it’s too crowded.” The convention and entertainment capital of Las Vegas seems to be suffering the same critique. Associated Press reported an 11% drop in visitors in June, in part due to a 13% drop in international travelers, singling out gamblers coming from Canada and Mexico. That dip still left 3.1 million people driving or flying to Southern Nevada over 30 days of a historically slower months for Las Vegas tourism.

We were curious what a national softening in international visitors meant for meetings in the context of the almost 6 million people expected to travel for conferences each year and a newly announced city-wide sale that would waive resort fees and offer $99 massages between Sept. 22 and 26. We sent out our scouts to see what is happening in ballrooms and expo floors now.

IMEX Tracking Ahead of 2024

People at IMEX America
IMEX America

IMEX America, the largest gathering of meeting professionals in the world scheduled for Oct. 6-9 at Mandalay Bay Convention Center, just reported record registration numbers. “With under two months to go until IMEX America 2025 opens its doors, demand from global buyers is currently tracking significantly ahead of the same time in 2024,” according to the press release.

Hosted buyer registrations are 25% ahead compared to the same time last year. Driving the momentum is demand from the U.S., Europe, Asia Pacific, South and Central America. In addition, registrations from Canada are tracking the same as last year. The number of association hosted buyers registered to date has exceeded the total registered for the previous edition, with strong representation across the healthcare, education and trade association sectors.

Experiences at Every Price Point—Including Free

In answer to those who would say that the popularity of the city has led to an escalation in extravaganzas and prices, Rebecca DeLuca, vice president of destination sales with Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, says the final bill depends on what a visitor is looking to do. “Las Vegas remains an electrifying destination with something for every taste and every budget,” she said.

“Las Vegas has always been about delivering unforgettable experiences at every price point,” said LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill when introducing The Fabulous 5-Day Sale.

While celebrity dinners with corresponding prices are available up and down The Strip (Spoiler Alert: Spago by Wolfgang Puck offers a summer prix-fix menu starting at $90), visitors can also see world-class art and unique activations just by walking into the lobby of Bellagio Hotel & Casino or Wynn Las Vegas.

DeLuca pointed to an abundance of free experiences available, giving every visitor a way to plug into the city’s excitement.

A new favorite is a scenic Overlook on The Strip at BLVD shopping Center. It is a comfortable place to park and take in the action, no purchase required.

Also gratis at Park MGM is Haus of Gaga, a display of the flamboyant performer’s costumes.

The destination is a constant wave of new openings and re-imagined attractions, including the roster of entertainment at Sphere where the Backstreet Boys just extended their residency due to popular demand and the highly anticipated F1 Arcade flagship venue opening later this year and the reimagined FRIENDS Experience at MGM Grand.

Off-Strip properties have long offered unique value. Station Casinos, which includes Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa and Casino and Durango Casino & Resort has preserved some of the dining deals that made Vegas popular in the first place—Boarding Pass members enjoy late-night specials like $9.99 steak & eggs, $4.99 breakfast skillets, $3.99 pancakes, and a 24/7 $5.99 cheeseburger and fries.

“Each addition reinforces our position as the world’s premier destination for both business and leisure,” DeLuca concluded.

Perhaps the alarming stories are simply missing perspective. Any dip in tourism will hit a tourism-concentrated destination harder than other cities, but it is also relative. Still, 3.1 million people in a month is a lot and if tourists aren’t taking the rooms, perhaps there will be more space for events because it looks like they are still showing up.

The U.S. Capital has long been a magnet for groups sharing innovative ideas, debating global issues and defining the future. Those essential activities can take many forms from scientific symposiums and eloquent speeches in massive stadiums to executive board meetings and bustling trade show floors.

A record 27.2 million people visited the nation’s capital in 2024, spending $11.4 billion. Tourism Economics is forecasting a 5.1% decrease in international visitation to D.C. in 2025, a sunnier projection than the 8.2% predicted for the country as a whole. That would still result in more than 2 million international visitors coming to the city.

Walter E. Washington Convention Center, alone, is expected to generate 470,316 hotel room nights in 2026. Non-Convention Center meetings could bring 227,885 hotel room nights. Destination DC is targeting growth markets such as tech and finding success in filling the pipeline.

After reading headlines about camouflaged National Guard troops in the District of Columbia over the last six weeks despite a 30-year low crime rate, we were curious what was happening behind convention center and hotel glass doors. We spied a lot of lanyards in the wild over the summer doing important work. Take a look.

From June 21-25, the International Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) 2025 Congress activated Walter E. Washington Convention Center with 5,000 attendees representing 120 countries. It was the first in-person ISTH congress in 16 years in the United States and emphasized diversity of topics, speaker gender, age and geography. Topics for discussion included an introduction to AI for scientists and clinicians, cures in gene therapy and a focus on early career development. Onsite childcare was available to make the event more inclusive and accessible.

Feedback from Guy Young, M.D. Chair of the ISTH 2025 Annual Congress Planning Committee, lauded the free, world-class museums and abundance of public transportation and attractions for pre- and post-event stays. “Washington, D.C., is a truly fantastic city. It is fairly central from a global perspective and it has great international airline service with direct flights from most major cities in Europe, Latin America and even some cities in Asia. It is a cosmopolitan city with fantastic museums, restaurants and theaters, as well as many small little clubs for live music. There is beautiful architecture all around the city that is well worth seeing,” he said.

Post-event, ISTH President Thomas Reiser praised the experience. “Our international attendees shared how smooth and welcoming their arrival experience was at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) with no issues reported and some even commenting on the friendliness and efficiency of the process.

That set the tone for what turned out to be a truly positive experience in Washington, D.C. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center left a strong impression with its light-filled spaces, integrated artwork and areas for informal networking. Attendees valued the flexible layout of the convention center and reliable air conditioning, as most activities were kept indoors due to the summer heat. We were also proud to host our meeting in a facility that shares our commitment to sustainability, including tracking and reporting carbon impact. Washington, D.C., itself is also exceptionally walkable, clean and safe, which made our experience that much more enjoyable. Overall, the city and venue proved to be the ideal setting for meaningful scientific exchange and international collaboration.”

In August, the 63rd International Young Lawyers Congress (AIJA) convened at Waldorf Astoria Washington DC. The theme was “Empower NextGen: Meeting Young Lawyers Where They Are,” and the goal was to help lawyers and in-house legal counsel under 45 grow, connect and make a difference in a rapidly evolving legal landscape.

The city was chosen because it is home to more than 80,000 lawyers, is a global hub for law, governance and policy and offers a unique backdrop for young lawyers to expand their knowledge, gain new perspectives and connect with the pulse of the legal profession, according to AIJA President Kato Aerts. “The city’s rich legal community makes it the perfect place to explore new opportunities and build relationships that can propel your career forward,” she added.

Terranea Focuses on Hiring and Training

The Smart Meetings editorial team is on an eternal quest to pinpoint the elements that make the difference between a beautiful venue that fades in the memory and one that lives on in the mind by sparking something in the guest’s soul.

What better place to search for the fountain of eternal experience than the newly renovated Terranea resort in exclusive Palos Verdes Peninsula, California? The perch overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island is just 30 minutes from both Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Long Beach Airport (LGB) and just 30 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles. But the 102-acre Mediterranean oasis occupies a special place in the lives of visitors.

Terranea guest roomOnce part of the Channel Islands, the peninsula shifted slowly over millions of years and fused to the coast of California where the indigenous Gabrielino-Tongva Tribe lived as seafarers, traders and fishermen.

The dramatic backdrop attracted Hollywood film crews for shows such as Sea Hunt, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Beverly Hillbillies. It also served as home to Marineland of the Pacific, a seaside animal theme park.

In 2007, construction started on what is now 582 luxuriously appointed marble and wood-floored guest rooms and suites, bungalows, casitas and villas with private balconies. Guests at Terranea enjoy access to eight distinct dining venues, an award-winning golf course, four swimming pools and 135,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space. By sourcing a combination of dramatic indoor ballrooms, outdoor patios overlooking the water and tented worlds designed to fit even the most creative theme by in-house Destination Services DMC, Planners can add their own magical touches.

A recent $4.5 million renovation of the 50,000-square-foot spa and fitness center makes it one of the premier wellness retreats on the West Coast. Oceanfront treatment rooms (see photo below) feature copper tubs and showers for holistic massages that include sound therapy, natural minerals and seaweed scrubs that leave guests relaxed and invigorated. A spa restaurant featuring healthy menu items can be delivered loungeside overlooking the pools and ocean where pods of dolphins and the occasional whale pass by.

It Starts with People

Everything so far has focused on the physical aspects of the space. Meeting professionals know the emotional connection often goes beyond what you can touch on a site inspection. We asked Terranea President Ralph Grippo, who brought his experience from Irvine Company and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company to the property in 2022, what he does to cultivate the feeling that every need will be anticipated and met.

Read More: Elevated Event Leadership

He echoed many of the approaches suggested by restauranteur Will Guidara in his book: Unreasonable Hospitality: The Remarkable Power of Giving People More than They Expect.

For Grippo, service starts with the resume screening process or as he called it, values-driven hiring. That includes the 24-hour concierge and the experience concierge, who assists with land and sea adventures such as private falconry, ocean kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding launched from a private cove.

Terranea spa treatment room“Terranea Resort prioritizes cultural fit above all, selecting team members who embody the resort’s core values, service philosophy and commitment to collaboration,” he said. By hiring individuals who align with a family-oriented culture and the “Terranea Together” spirit, the resort ensures teams are not only skilled and experienced but also united in their passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The next step is extensive training, what he calls comprehensive onboarding. Team members complete an immersive orientation that introduces Terranea’s brand standards, service culture and guest experience expectations. Grippo and the executive committee share their vision, mission and values, ensuring each individual—no matter the role—is deeply connected to the resort’s purpose from day one.

“Associates are trained to embody the Forbes Five Star principles: greet with warmth, provide anticipatory service, create emotional connections, maintain professional presentation, listen attentively, practice empowered problem solving, deliver consistent excellence and offer a fond farewell.”

That attention to detail was evident on a recent site inspection. Based on a comment during check-in, the guide had coffee just the way I like it waiting in the golf cart for the tour. And at dinner at award-winning Mar-sel (sea salt), my favorite evening beverage as noted in my social media feed was waiting for me.

That focus on the individual continues after the initial hire. Employee engagement is fostered through a culture of connection and pride through regular recognition programs, team-building activities, open communication and daily line-ups that include Forbes service energizers. Employees are encouraged to share ideas and actively contribute to the resort’s success.

Ongoing skills development focuses on continuous learning and new opportunities to ensure employees remain at the forefront of industry best practices and service excellence.

“At Terranea, our guiding philosophy is that every guest should feel genuinely welcomed, deeply cared for and inspired by their experience with us,” said Grippo. “We believe in anticipating needs, creating moments that are as personal as they are memorable, and delivering exceptional service that defines the guest experience. Creating joy and lasting memories is our privilege—and the reason guests return to our resort year after year.”

While Managing Editor Kate Zaliznock is traveling, I am jumping in to share some travel news that crossed my screen this week as I consider hopping on the next plane.

You know you are a frequent flier when you have a favorite gate, right? There is soon going to be more to love as the rainbow on the other end of those under-construction signs could be more authentic grits, crab and bahn mi sandwiches. Guess I am not alone in welcoming a distraction during the layover. New airport satisfaction scores from J.D. Power show that after major expansions, travelers rate overall airport satisfaction higher when local touches are added to restaurant and retail options at terminals.

For once, geopolitical instability and uncertainty tied to U.S. tariffs are being blamed for slowing inflation. A new report from American Express Global Business Travel predicted hotel prices will stabilize with some high-end exceptions.

Finally, we end on a “Well, I’ll be,” note with a fun story out of Lexington, Kentucky about a travel planner that runs on hay.

New Dining and Retail Options at Terminals Raise Airport Satisfaction Scores

Despite widespread flight delays and rising costs, passengers in J.D. Power’s 2025 North America Airport Satisfaction Study reported they were slightly happier (up 10 points on a 1,000-point scale) about their time in the terminal, largely due to improvements in dining and shopping options. Smaller airports saw the highest improvements in satisfaction.

The study measures experience across seven areas—ease of travel through airport; level of trust with airport; terminal facilities; airport staff; departure/to airport experience; food, beverage and retail; and arrival/from airport experience. Airports are divided into three categories: mega, large and medium.

“We’re still seeing record numbers of travelers pass through the nation’s airports, and, for the most part, they are enjoying the experience,” said Michael Taylor, managing director of travel, hospitality and retail at J.D. Power. A big part of the increase is due to recently completed improvements in many airport facilities. A few big capital improvement projects have now been completed and many more are underway or about to break ground.

San Diego International Airport (SAN) is opening phase one of an expansion this month with 19 new gates and 11 more on the way by 2028. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is in the midst of a $2.6 billion Terminal 3 modernization that expand security checkpoints and amenities along with airline lounges and a new check-in lobby scheduled for completion in 2029. DFW Forward at Dallas Fort Worth international Airport is investing $9 billion to add nine gates and a parking structure along with improvements to existing facilities. Ribbon cutting is scheduled for 2030. And John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York is adding 23 new gates, dining, retail and indoor green space planned for completion in 2030.

One of the bigger drivers of this year’s increase in passenger satisfaction is food, beverage and retail programs, which improved 14 points year-over-year across all airport segments. Efforts to incorporate authentic local food and beverage brands into terminal offerings have helped to fuel that increase.

The report found that airports handling more than 33 million passengers a year (defined as mega airports) experience longer wait-times and more crowding. On average, 56% of passengers traveling through medium airports and 50% of those traveling through large airports spent 10 minutes or less getting through security. These passengers are also more likely to characterize the airport as “mildly crowded” or “not at all crowded.” Among mega airport passengers, 23% spent 21 minutes or more getting through security and 57% describe the airport as “moderately crowded.”

Hotel Prices Predicted to Stabilize in 2026

Hotel Monitor 2026, a tool produced by American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT), predicts that global hotel rates will remain relatively stable through 2026 due to geopolitical instability and uncertainty surrounding potential U.S. tariffs limiting demand and restricting big price increases seen in recent years.

However, Amex GBT’s consulting team predicts continued rises in rates for high-end accommodation, due to growing demand. The biggest increases are predicted for Toronto, Canada (5.8%) and Madrid, Spain (4.8%).

Hotel development projects in London (4.2%) and Riyadh (2.3%) could improve supply, tempering rates despite strong demand. London leads Europe with 80 projects and nearly 15,000 rooms on the way, while Riyadh tops the Middle East with more than 17,000 rooms in development, according to the report.

In New York City, hotel rates are predicted to rise by 4% despite projected softening of demand for inbound U.S. travel as New York remains one of the world’s top destinations for business travel and meetings.

The report points to India as the country to watch in 2026. Amex GBT anticipates another year of strong rate growth with price rises outstripping regional and global averages. The city of Bengaluru, which is one of the world’s leading technology and AI hubs, achieved the country’s highest occupancy and average room rate in the first quarter of 2025.

Equine Intelligence (EI) Harnessed for Travel Planning Activation

picture of computer with text that says, Plan my trip to Lexington, Kentucky Worried about an artificial intelligence engine planning your next board retreat? VisitLEX, the destination marketing organization for the Horse Capital of the World, is promoting a head-turning alternative, an equine intelligence-powered travel planner.

Oliver, a black-and-white Paint/Shire cross who lives at the Kentucky Horse Park and also works with Lexington’s Mounted Police Unit, is planning trips through “Neigh-I,” a highly unpredictable, alternative to AI.

Here’s how it works: Travelers answer a few questions online, then Oliver makes the selections—choosing between carrots, apples, peppermints and horse treats—to build a custom three-day itinerary. According to promotional materials, each choice reflects his personality and local know-how—straight from “the horse’s mouth.”

What do event professionals need? Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance (ECA), which advocates for the U.S. business and professional events industry, has issued its hot buttons for 2025 in the form of its annual Public Policy Agenda to answer that question.

It summarized the document as follows: “From a tax code that incentivizes the growth of our industry’s small businesses to policies that help the U.S. attract more international exhibitors and attendees, ECA strongly encourages policymakers to adopt the measures…that will strengthen our industry’s competitiveness and ability to drive economic growth, support job creation, empower small businesses, and help solve our most urgent societal challenges going forward.

Top Priorities

Enhance competitiveness through growth-focused tax policies that include federal tax reform that is pro-growth via a “competitive business tax rate,” pro-investment by maintaining current private equity tax treatment, safeguards association and association nonprofit tax status and expands 529 plans—tax-advantaged savings accounts designed to be used for the beneficiary’s education expenses—to cover professional certifications.

ECA also says it will prioritize preventing state and local tax policies that would “unfairly target the industry.”

Support government policies to help attract and train the industry’s future workforce. This includes advocating for expanding Pell Grants to cover “high-quality shorter-term skills training.”

Read More: Shaping the Future of Hospitality

Grow international travel to increase U.S. global competitiveness. ECA supports continued reduction of visa wait times and a modernized visa processing system, and opposes any new U.S. inbound international travel restrictions.

Read More: Today’s Best Practices for Visas and International Travel

Other Issues

Although not a top priority, ECA also supports leveraging “smart decarbonization” for long-term competitive advantage. It seeks “the right balance between environmental aims and industry feasibility.”

Read More: The Best of Sustainability from 2024

It also supports future growth through a “competitive operating environment.” This includes securing government support for event cancellation insurance, increasing music licensing transparency and stopping “anti-competitive behavior” by rights holders, establishing a “pro-innovation federal privacy statute that harmonizes existing state privacy laws,” and blocking state and local efforts to “restrict the freedom of operations of business events.”

Welcome to Sacramento – California’s capital city and the perfect destination for meeting planners seeking a blend of accessibility, affordability, and authentic West Coast charm. Here, you’ll find a state-of-the-art convention center, diverse and comfortable hotel options, excellent weather, walkable tree-lined streets, and an abundance of award-winning food and wine. Plus, the city is as approachable as your own backyard and much more affordable than its neighbors to the north or south.

Sacramento is a city that knows how to host at any scale. As the proud home of major events like Aftershock, the West Coast’s largest hard rock festival, Terra Madre Americas, and IRONMAN California, California’s Capital City delivers dynamic experiences while still feeling authentic, approachable, and effortlessly cool.

At the heart of it all is Sacramento’s SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, offering 240,000 square feet of meeting and event space, along with an outdoor activities plaza and outdoor second-floor terrace to take full advantage of Sacramento’s ideal climate. You’ll find more than 2,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the convention center, and 2,000 more within just 3 miles.

The convention center’s flexibility is a highlight, with 160,000 square feet of exhibit space, 79,000 square feet of meeting space, a new 40,000-square-foot flexible ballroom, and 37  breakout rooms. The 15,000-square-foot outdoor activities plaza is always popular, with attendees basking in the California sun, which shines in Sacramento more than 270 days per year.

Convention hotels, including Hyatt Regency and Sheraton Grand, provide the perfect venues for meetings that don’t quite require the scope of the convention center, and Sacramento is uniquely positioned to provide planners with everything they need when their meetings outgrow hotels and move into a convention center for the first time. One of the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center’s highlights is its ability to be divided in multiple ways to accommodate multiple meetings simultaneously, with no shared entrances or overlapping space, ensuring that each meeting has a sense of ownership of the space.

Beyond the convention center, Sacramento has a host of additional meeting spaces ranging from Memorial Auditorium to a historic downtown theater and newly renovated convention hotels. Visit Sacramento’s sales team can connect planners to more than 100 unique venues, whether it’s an exclusive farm-to-fork dining experience for a board meeting or connecting to Sacramento’s storied past by activating a museum like the California State Railroad Museum.

When the work is done, the city beckons. As America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, Sacramento brings the freshest ingredients to every meal, whether it’s one of the city’s two Michelin-starred restaurants, a trendy local gastropub or cozy comfort food at a mom-and-pop restaurant.

Sacramento is accessible, with 200 nonstop flights at Sacramento International Airport, which is just 15 minutes from downtown.

For pre- and post-con activities, Sacramento’s location in the heart of California provides opportunities for activities ranging from wine tasting to whitewater rafting, hiking, or relaxing guided walking tours in the city center.

If you’re ready to escape the ordinary, Sacramento is ready to welcome you.

Coast to coast, these transformed hotels and venues are ready to inspire memorable meetings

Great meetings start with great spaces, and this season’s newly refreshed venues are setting the stage for connection and creativity. Across the country, hotels and event spaces are investing in bold renovations that blend style, functionality and a strong sense of place.

Charleston’s The Charleston Place leads the way with over 40,000 sq. ft. of reimagined meeting space designed for gatherings of every size. Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle unveiled a fresh look inspired by the Emerald City, along with a brand-new restaurant concept. The landmark hotel unveiled over 40,000 sq. ft. of renovated meeting and event space, including two new 1,350-square-foot rooms, expanded pre-function areas, and a state-of-the-art banquet kitchen located behind the ballroom for restaurant-style service.

Planners can choose from 33 flexible spaces, including a 14,000-square-foot grand ballroom for up to 1,700 guests, 20 breakout rooms, and residential-style suites. The property blends Lowcountry charm with modern sophistication, offering immersive cultural experiences in a walkable historic district. Charleston provides easier logistics, lower costs, and a compelling alternative to major metro markets, aligning with the growing 2025 trend toward secondary cities. The Charleston Place delivers upgraded design, enhanced technology, and elevated culinary options, redefining event hospitality for conferences, retreats, and intimate board meetings.

The transformation updated all 189 guest rooms, including 45 junior suites and the Ambassador suite, the lobby, public spaces, and exterior façade. The redesign draws inspiration from Seattle’s natural beauty, incorporating hues of blue and green and design nods to local curiosities like Lake Washington’s Underwater Forest. “This renovation positions Hotel Monaco Seattle at the forefront of the city’s evolving hospitality scene,” said General Manager Nabeel Toubayly. Owned by InnVest Hotels, the refreshed property aims to elevate guest expectations while staying true to its boutique charm.

The completion is planned for late 2025, aligning with the property’s 20th anniversary celebration. Known for providing a premier experience for both domestic and international travelers, the renovation will elevate the guest journey from arrival to departure. Meeting planners will benefit from refreshed venues and flexible event space, ideal for hosting conferences and gatherings without leaving the airport terminal. With its prime location, luxury accommodations, and upgraded amenities, Grand Hyatt DFW will set a new standard for airport hotels, combining convenience with a refined atmosphere. First, some history. Smart Meetings Founder Marin Bright started the Smart Women in Meetings Awards 10 years ago when she realized as the only female founder of a meetings media company, she was uniquely positioned to open the door for hard-working women who wanted to contribute at the highest levels.

This year, ASAE CEO Michelle Mason was awarded the Marin Bright Legacy Award for her dedication to the association community, innovation and creating real impact.

Hosting the anniversary in historic Tampa Bay was a natural. The vibrant, sunny destination is rich in diversity and culture. JW Marriott Tampa Water Street added the shine with elegant ballrooms and thoughtful catering from morning to gala dinner night.

Brave Leadership

Getting ahead doesn’t have to mean leaving your true self behind. Rebel in a Gown speaker Shelley Brown encouraged a courageous approach to contributing that didn’t require perfectionism, victimhood or a military degree. Her recipe for how to lead with heart looked something like this:

  • Love your legacy
  • Embrace the humanity
  • Abandon the armor
  • Do it differently

“That is how you break the hard rules,” she said.

Chart an Original Course

One thing authentic leadership is not is safe. As Emilia Rose Earhart, the pilot who reenacted her namesake’s course around the world in a single-engine aircraft as pilot in command, explained, “The aircraft that never experiences turbulence is one that stays locked up in a hangar.” She encouraged everyone to embrace the turbulence and follow their own internal compass to chart their personal legacy.

Naomi Clare, founder of Storycraft Lab, translated attendees’ belonging stories into colorful interpretations of how they are motivated. “Event designers are uniquely positioned to build belonging with intention, curiosity and creativity, and generate measurable impact for audience engagement,” said Clare.

Career Enhancers

In addition to inspirational boosts, the day was filled with practical tips for moving forward powerfully.

  • Quinn Conyers coached on crafting memorable verbal business cards leveraging luxury language.
  • Smart Women in Meetings winner Lisa Kaszubski, CMP, MCLC, who transitioned from hospitality to serving as a certified coach with Sister, We Hear You, encouraged women to spotlight their internal wins, free of the expectations or validation of others.
  • Sherron Washington, M.A., founder and CEO of The P3 Solution, demonstrated the power of speaking up without apology as leadership rather than self-promotion.

At the end of the day, the Smart Women in Meetings Awards Gala left the room feeling connected, supported and empowered. That was just the way Marin Bright envisioned it.

The newly launched on-demand aviation arm of experiential travel company Pelorus is now a licensed broker offering globe-hopping charters, remote landings and seamless air transfers, all with military precision and a healthy dose of adventure.

A sustainability-first model pairs jet-set style with real emissions reductions. New Look, Same Magic: Los Cabos Rebrands with Planners in Mind

Los Cabos is turning the page with a bold new brand campaign, “Where the Land Ends, Your Story Begins,” and for planners, that story could start with a beachfront boardroom or end with a spa day in the Sierra de la Laguna foothills.

Unveiled Sept. 12 by the Los Cabos Tourism Board, the global campaign highlights the destination’s transformation into a full-spectrum luxury and wellness hub, with wide appeal for both leisure travelers and meeting groups. Options include whale-watching team building, desert golf excursions or incentive dinners under the stars.

“The new campaign is an invitation to experience Los Cabos on a deeply personal level,” said Rodrigo Esponda, managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. “It’s not just about where you go—it’s about how the journey changes you.”

From revamped branding and an updated website to captivating new video content, Los Cabos is leaning into emotional storytelling while delivering on logistics, too, thanks to top-tier resorts, direct flights and meeting spaces that bring ocean views into your agenda. Planners looking for high-impact destinations with heart (and hammocks) may just find their next big idea where the land ends.

Outrigger Launches First-Ever Family Travel Promise: Grandparent Guarantee

Outrigger is making waves with its newest pledge to family travelers: The Grandparent Guarantee. Launched on National Grandparents Day, this heartfelt offer targets the booming “skip-gen” travel trend—those grand adventures where grandparents take the grandkids and leave the parents behind.

Book a four-night stay in a suite or multi-room accommodation at any Outrigger resort in Hawai‘i, travel with at least one grandparent and one grandchild, and if the experience doesn’t meaningfully strengthen your family bond, they’ll invite you back for a complimentary return stay.

It’s a bold move rooted in Hawaiian tradition, where kūpuna (elders) are revered as keepers of wisdom and connection. “We see that spirit reflected in the growing trend of skip-gen travel,” said Sean Dee, EVP and chief commercial officer. “Outrigger’s Grandparent Guarantee ensures every stay provides a setting where family bonds can deepen across generations—guaranteed.”

From lei-making and lu‘au under the stars to suites with private lanais and access to the Voyager 47 Club Lounge, these multi-generational escapes blend barefoot luxury with shared discovery. For incentive groups that want to incorporate meaningful family time or simply reward VIPs with a deeply personal travel option, this offer hits all the right notes.
