One of the premier hotels in downtown Chicago just unveiled the results of a three-month renovation. The Westin Chicago River North—located right on the urban bank of the Chicago—finished upgrades and expansions to its meeting space, executive lounge and all of its 429 rooms and suites.

“We are proud to offer travelers the opportunity to revitalize at our freshly renovated hotel in Chicago’s bustling Near North neighborhood,” said Brent Menzel, the property’s general manager. “The Westin Chicago River North showcases all of the brand’s signature services and amenities – including some exciting new offerings.”

The guest rooms have been updated with a fresh modern look, replacing a beige and brown color scheme with a more soothing color palate—including new wall colors, carpet, furnishings and artwork, with natural design touches throughout each room. All rooms now also come equipped with 42-inch flat-screen TVs and the Westin brand’s Heavenly Shower systems (with all new Tea Aloe bath amenities to boot).

Business travelers may also be able to take advantage of treadmill desks that allow guests to either sit or stand at the desk—with the option to walk while they work by activating the treadmill (only while the desks are in standing position). The desks are being tested and may be added to more rooms if the pilot program gets positive feedback.

The hotel expanded its meeting space by adding the Riverfront room. The 2,000-square-foot room brings the flexible meeting space at Westin Chicago River North to 19 rooms totaling 30,000 square feet.

The other main focus of the Westin Chicago renovations is the 20th-floor Executive Club Lounge. The sweeping views of the Downtown Chicago skyline and the Chicago River are unchanged, but the space now features new flooring, wallpaper, flexible seating areas and a 42-inch plasma TV, in addition to complimentary use of computers, high-speed internet, printing stations and newspapers and magazines.
