L.A.Loses Convention Due to Construction

Convention Centers

Aug. 31, 2011
The Society of Critical Care Medicine has decided to move its 6,000-attendee convention from downtown L.A. to San Francisco. The convention was scheduled to be held in the Los Angeles Convention Center but was moved due to the venue’s proximity to the site of the proposed NFL stadium. If plans for the stadium are approved, the completion date for the project is just months before the convention is supposed to happen. If the construction goes over schedule, as so often happens, the Society of Critical Care Medicine will have to meet amid heavy construction. Although the 2013 conference has moved, the society confirms that it plans to return to L.A. for the 2021 convention. sccm.org
