In Scottsdale, we know that climate, room availability, golf, recreational opportunities and the infrastructure to create a unique experience are the foundation for successful meetings.
Setting & Service: A Winning Combination
Planning Support - Successful meetings and events take hard work and careful planning – that’s where we come in! The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau provides a full range of services to meeting planners, including site selection, on-line requests for proposals, promotional materials and much more. Our staff can connect you with resident DMCs, event experts, golf tournament companies and more. And here, on the CVB’s Web site, you can input requests for customized bids from Scottsdale properties, review a listing of the meeting space and amenities offered at area hotels and resorts, view client testimonials and read about the CVB's meetings-related awards. The Scottsdale CVB is your one-stop shop for destination information, on-line planning tools and the personal touch that will help you ensure your program’s success.
Outstanding Accommodations: Once you’ve selected Scottsdale as your destination, we’ll help you find the perfect property to host your group. You can choose from an array of award-winning resorts and hotels, including The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, The Phoenician, The Boulders Resort & Golden Door Spa, the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch, The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, and Camelback Inn, a JW Marriott Resort & Spa. Scottsdale also offers a host of cozy boutique hotels and moderate properties that will maximize your program budget. All in all, Scottsdale’s resorts and hotels represent a combined total of more than 13,700 guestrooms, which are complemented by meeting rooms ranging in size from 180 to 24,600 square feet and serve groups from 10 to 22,500.
Facilities That Meet Your Needs - Since Scottsdale doesn’t have a convention center, we don't pursue large-group convention business. We specialize in smaller corporate, incentive, association and special market groups. However, if you have a large group, rest assured that Scottsdale offers numerous award-winning resorts with state-of-the-art meeting facilities and plenty of sleeping rooms (up to 64,000 or more square feet of meeting space and 600+ sleeping rooms). In fact, the meetings market is so important to our city’s hospitality industry that many resorts and hotels have recently added new meeting rooms and renovated their existing spaces to accommodate groups of all sizes.
On- & Off-Site Event Venues: Many of our large resorts offer unique on-site venues for theme parties and special events, such as cowboy towns for Western cookouts. Off-site venues also are available to groups that are looking for a change of pace or that require more space than the hotels can provide. Scottsdale’s exciting off-site venues include WestWorld equestrian center, Los Cedros USA, Pinnacle Peak Patio, Bella Palazzo, La Puesta del Sol, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, and Scottsdale Stadium.
Plenty of “Green” - Scottsdale is a golf mecca, offering more than 200 outstanding courses in the metropolitan area. Incentive travelers can play on courses designed by pros like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, or played on by pros like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. And not only does Scottsdale have an abundance of superb traditional layouts, the city also is home to some of the most unique and challenging desert-target designs in the country. After all, there aren't too many destinations where you can tee off to an audience of majestic saguaros and wily coyotes! And, with so many courses to choose from, Scottsdale is the perfect host for group golf events of any size. Competitive tournaments, high-spirited night golf using neon balls, and group lessons with resident golf professionals are just a few of the possibilities.
Spouse Programs - For those not traveling alone, spouse programs take advantage of the city's world-class shopping, critically acclaimed dining, unique cultural heritage and our proximity to the breathtaking Sonoran Desert. Attendees and spouses can learn the secrets of Southwest cooking at the elbow of an award-winning resort chef, participate in a private estate tour to experience local architecture or partake in adventurous outings like hot-air balloon rides, desert excursions via horseback or Jeep, Sonoran Desert hikes or river-rafting trips. These exciting activities will leave your group with memories they will cherish for years to come!
Sunshine! – Scottsdale offers more sun-filled days than just about any other U.S. city - more than 330 each year! Our predictably sunny weather and low relative humidity allow you to plan outdoor events with confidence.
Meeting Planner Resources - The Scottsdale CVB provides a host of complimentary materials to qualified meeting planners and their groups:
Scottsdale’s location in the heart of the lush Sonoran Desert provides a wealth of opportunities for memorable activities and adventures:
Cultural Connections: In Scottsdale, the area’s Native American, Mexican and cowboy cultures have woven together over time to form a unique cultural tapestry that’s very much a part of our present-day life. Meeting attendees can get a taste of the Wild West by shedding their ties, donning colorful bandanas and cowboy hats, and learning the two-step! An old-fashioned hay wagon will transport your group to a campfire cookout under the starry desert sky. Picnic tables, a live band, dance instructors and gen-u-ine cowboy grub set the stage for this night in the Wild West. Treat your group to a taste of Old Mexico with a Mexican fiesta, complete with authentic cuisine, live mariachi music and a piñata. Ole! Or, introduce your group to the area’s indigenous cultures by opening your meeting with a Native American blessing or inviting a Native storyteller to speak with your group about their rich cultural heritage.
Desert Explorations: The Sonoran Desert is the richest most biologically diverse desert in the Americas and provides excellent opportunities for outdoor adventure! Off-road Jeep and Hummer tours take you to some of the desert’s most pristine locations. Along the way, your guides will provide entertaining stories of the Old West (including a tall tale or two!) as well as interesting facts about the desert’s cacti, plants and wildlife. Hiking, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, rock climbing and river rafting also are exciting ways to explore the magnificent Sonoran Desert.
The Arts: With more than 125 art galleries, studios and museums to explore, your most difficult decision may be where to start. The Downtown Scottsdale Arts & Shopping Districts offer dozens of galleries within walking distance of each other. If your group is in town on a Thursday evening, be sure to schedule time to take in the weekly ArtWalk where browsers and buyers alike can view exhibit openings, enjoy live entertainment and attend exclusive artists’ receptions. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, Cosanti, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts are just some of the attractions the arts aficionados in your group won’t want to miss.
Spectacular Spas: Scottsdale is home to more than 25 luxurious resort and day spas that are ready and waiting to pamper guests with relaxing and rejuvenating treatments. Many spas offer treatment menus inspired by the Sonoran Desert and Native American healing techniques. Indigenous ingredients like smooth Arizona river rocks, desert honey, and herbs such as sage, juniper and sandalwood combine in treatments that are sure to soothe your mind, body and soul.
Extreme Adventures: For those who want more than a simple trail ride, the Arizona Cowboy College serves up a true taste of the cowboy life. Attendees sleep under the stars and partake in comprehensive and rigorous classes about cattle and horsemanship. If your group is feeling the need for speed, Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving offers exciting, single- and multi-day courses in a variety of topics including Grand Prix Racing, Highway Survival Driving and Executive Protection/Anti-Kidnapping.
Culinary Delights: Scottsdale's award-winning chefs have a special reverence for the natural beauty and bounty of the Sonoran Desert, as it often supplies them with those special ingredients that make Southwestern cuisine so exciting and flavorful. In this lush desert paradise, many chefs find themselves using native ingredients and techniques with contemporary artistry and flair. With more than 600 restaurants to choose from, Scottsdale boasts a selection of award-winning and flavorful cuisines ranging from indigenous fare to international delights.
Shop ‘til You Drop Excitement: The shoppers in your group will find Nirvana in Scottsdale’s more than 2,500 boutiques, shops and malls. From the modern masterpiece that is Scottsdale Fashion Square to the cobblestone walkways of The Borgata and the Moroccan-inspired beauty of el Pedregal Festival Marketplace, even the most hard-core shoppers in your group will find their bliss in Scottsdale!
