Volunteer Cooking Event

Planners attending IMEX in Frankfurt 2015 can participate in a special charity cooking event on Monday, May 18, the day before the huge conference officially opens. Volunteers are needed to help prepare lunch for residents of Haus Lichtblick, a nonprofit organization run by Sister Sigrid Ehrlich that provides food and shelter to the indigent, and helps those who are struggling regain independence.

The Sheraton Frankfurt Congress Hotel is partnering with IMEX for the charity cooking event, donating the fresh ingredients for the lunch, and the services of their executive chef to oversee the cooking. Volunteers can join the Sheraton team to create and serve the lunch to the homeless. Volunteers should contact Sarah Skavron at cooking@imexexhibitions.com. Spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Last year, Haus Lichtblick was one of several charities supported by IMEX’s Badge Back scheme. At the end of the show, attendees were asked to deposit their show badges in a collection box representing their preferred charity. This not only recycled the badges, but allowed the charities to receive financial donations in relation to how many badges were collected. Last year’s donation allowed Haus Lichtblick to give their residents a boat trip down the Rhine River.
