“The Nines, A Luxury Collection Hotel” (Starwood Hotels & Resorts) is an important part of the exciting revitalization of downtown Portland, Oregon.  The Nines will be situated within the top nine stories of the historic Meier & Frank building, with Macy’s department store occupying the lower five stories.  A street level entrance will provide elevators to shuttle guests up to the 8th floor atrium lobby.  The hotel will include 331 guestrooms, 14,000 square feet of meeting space, an atrium restaurant and a rooftop lounge.  The interior design of The Nines has been described as “nostalgic modern” and will pay homage to the legacy of fashion and elegance of the former Meier & Frank department store, a landmark since 1908.  The Nines is scheduled to open in the summer of 2008.
