Property | Royal Kona Resort

The Royal Kona Resort is an architectural marvel on twelve oceanfront acres overlooking Kailua Bay in the heart of historic Kailua Village. With three unique towers, many of the guestrooms feature stunning views of the Pacific from their own private lanai.
Following a multi-million dollar renovation enhancement program, the Royal Kona Resort is excited to announce improvements to the Resort including all new guestrooms in the Alii and Lagoon Towers, the new Don the Beachcomber restaurant, new private beach and snorkeling lagoon, and upgrades to the open-air lobby, oceanfront swimming pool and grounds.

Stay in one of the new guestrooms in the Alii and Lagoon Towers and enjoy new granite countertops, expanded marble showers with new fixtures, upgraded wet bars, new tile flooring and carpeting throughout, new furniture, plush King or Double beds, and state-of-the-art electronic door locks and in-room safes. Even the guestroom lanais have been improved with all new cement work, planter boxes and new patio furniture.

Dine oceanfront at our new open-air Don the Beachcomber restaurant and sample delicious Pacific Rim Fusion cuisine presented by award-winning chef Mikel Lamb and his team of culinary experts. Watch as food is freshly prepared in the new exhibition show kitchen. Not hungry for a full meal? Step next door to Don’s Mai Tai Bar and try an original Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai and island-style appetizers while enjoying live entertainment.

Guests can relax on the decks of our oceanfront, multi-level swimming pool or at our private beach and saltwater lagoon. Shoppers can hunt for unique treasures and souvenirs at our Resort shops or in nearby Kailua Village. Play a set of tennis or rejuvenate with a treatment at our spa.

Feel the spirit of aloha at the award-winning “Lava Legends & Legacies – Polynesian Luau” at Kailua-Kona’s only true oceanfront Luau. On select evenings throughout the week, watch a celebration of culture and dance while dining on a lavish authentic Hawaiian-style buffet against a spectacular backdrop of a breathtaking Hawaiian sunset.

Improvements to the grounds, multi-level pool and private beach and snorkeling lagoon have made the Resort tops in recreational fun but true adventure seekers will thrill at the opportunity to discover the Big Island’s wealth of activity, history and diversity.

Visitors to the Big Island can walk around a live volcano at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and explore lava tubes, steam vents, sulfur banks and ancient petroglyphs; see glorious landscapes including deserts, coffee plantations, macadamia nut orchards, hardened lava fields, wild orchid meadows and tropical jungles; view the night skies from the observatory on the summit of Mauna Kea; hike to magnificent waterfalls; walk along powder-white, black and green sand beaches; and even snorkel and play in the Pacific alongside sea turtles and manta rays.

The Big Island is enigmatic, experience it once and you will be captured by the mysterious beauty of this Island and its people.
