Property | Lodge on the Desert
Gone were the corral, bunk house, pigeon loft, and hay rack, replaced in the years that followed by additional guest rooms, a swimming pool, restaurant, and lounge.
A complete makeover and expansion of Lodge on Desert, scheduled for completion in early, 2009, will include a guest room and suite inventory of 100 totally new or top-to-bottom renovated accommodations; brand new hacienda, library, spa, additional meeting and public space, and new pool.
Today the 35-room Lodge on the Desert is an Arizona landmark, and a Tucson tradition, renowned for its genial hospitality and intimate residential setting. Here, secluded pathways meander amongst regal palms, native cacti, and manicured lawns wrapped in ribbons of seasonal flowers. Many of the Lodge’s charming hacienda-style guest rooms and suites feature tile-covered patios and fireplaces, affording guests a sanctuary in which to retreat, relax, and enjoy life’s simplest pleasures.
The restaurant at Lodge on the Desert is an escape from ordinary hotel dining … where favorite dishes are served in a warm, home-like atmosphere. A popular alternative, given Tucson’s temperate desert climate, is the adjacent spacious patio with its four-sided fireplace. And the lounge is the perfect place to savor a glass of wine and quiet conversation.
Lodge on the Desert is a preferred venue for small meetings and social events. Lodge function space is as unique as its history – while a private residence, the Hacienda Room was the family dining room and the Catalina Room, complete with fireplace, was the home’s living room; the Catalina Deck, with its original roof, was an open porch. The newly added Palm Room and Library double the Lodge’s interior event space. And, outdoors, several graciously-shaded garden patios are reserved for truly special gatherings.
