A memorable meeting is one that will draw return attendees. When it comes to extracurricular activities, it helps to promote these plans ahead of time to get a real bang for your buck.

Cvent offers five ideas that can help keep attendees coming back year after year.

Go offsite
Planners can make a bigger impact if they have attendees leave the building. A visit to Broadway in New York, a Giants game in San Francisco or a tour of South Beach in Miami. There are attractive options everywhere. Use them.

Get local or CVB help
Take advantage of civic pride by working directly with the local CVB to make sure you are getting an all-around picture of attractions in that city.

Use a personal touch
Putting a little extra effort into a welcome reception is not soon forgotten. At the Coralville, Iowa, Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, meeting guests and VIPs have been treated to personalized fortune cookie.

Consider paying it forward
Ask your attendees to vote on a charity of their choice before the meeting begins and then do it. Serve food at a homeless shelter, read to kids at a local hospital, or pick a project that ties into the curriculum of the meeting itself.

Never stop promoting
Have a promotional plan in place ahead of time make sure all the great plans are well known. Create a Twitter hashtag for attendees.  For more, see cvent.com
