Rankings Identify Best Meeting Hotels, Airports

- by Bill Chapin

With 300,000 sq. ft. of event space and famous resident ducks, The Peabody Orlando came out on top in a ranking of the 100 best meetings hotels released Monday by cloud-based event-management company Cvent. Using its online supplier network, the technology firm analyzed 80,000 hotels, considering such factors as total meeting space, the number of RFPs submitted and how much business meeting planners ultimately sent their way. Rounding out the Top 5 were the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center in Nashville, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando and The Venetian and Palazzo Resort, Hotel & Casinos in Las Vegas. cvent.com

Meanwhile, airport review website Skytrax named Vancouver International Airport as the best airport in North America for 2012, followed by Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and San Francisco International Airport. The honors were part of the company’s annual World Airport Awards released last week. The North American results were just part of the awards, which were based on surveys of 12 million passengers at 388 airports worldwide. The overall title of World’s Best Airport was Incheon International Airport near Seoul, South Korea. worldairportawards.com
