Orlando Tech Company Inspires More Hotels to Provide In-Room iPads

In-room iPads have a long way to go before they are as commonplace as TVs, coffeemakers and mini fridges, but more hotels are starting to provide them for guests. One big driver of this trend is Orlando tech company Intelity, which has developed a platform that turns an iPad into a virtual concierge service, allowing guests to order room service, adjust temperature settings, make concierge requests, schedule wake-up calls and more via touchscreen.  About 120 hotels worldwide have adopted the tablet version of Intelity’s ICE system, with properties including the Hotel Bel-Air in Beverly Hills, Calif., and Plaza Hotel in New York City now offering iPads in every room. The most recent addition to this group is the new Four Seasons Hotel Toronto scheduled to open on Oct. 5, which will supply each of its 259 guest rooms with ICE-equipped iPads. usatoday.com
