Massachusetts Bans Free Drink at Check-In

Police in Boston have put a stop to The Liberty Hotel’s practice of giving guests a free glass of Champagne at check-in, an apparent violation of state law. The Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission says that hotels or restaurants can’t offer free drinks unless it is presented as part of a meal or package. The hotel has stopped handing out the bubbly, but it also went before the City of Boston Licensing Board, which handles liquor licenses, on Tuesday to plead its case. The board is scheduled to further discuss the matter today. usatoday.com
