Westin’s New Lobby Design Takes Gardening to New Dimension
Are you still gardening horizontally? That is so dawn of civilization. Today’s hottest horticultural trend is vertical gardening, and for proof you need look no further than the new lobby design that Westin Hotels & Resorts will be rolling out to its properties around the world. The first hotel chain to incorporate vertical gardens throughout its global portfolio, Westin debuted the new lobby design in the The Westin Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego and intends to introduce it to properties in Indianapolis; Boston; Birmingham, Ala.; and the Washington, DC, area this year. The gardens range from 100–300 sq. ft. and feature mounted plant beds filling in the space between textured panels. Interior landscaping company Ambius is customizing each garden to reflect the hotel’s design and regional character, including selecting plants suited to the climate and lighting. The chain’s design team says the gardens are intended to relive stress and improve air quality. hotelnewsresource.com
