SLS Hotels Plans New York City Location

SBE Entertainment Group LLC will bring its SLS Hotels brand to New York City. Los Angeles hotelier Sam Nazarian’s company announced plans to convert a 14-story office building in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood south of 34th Street into a luxury hotel. It will have 190 rooms and suites and a rooftop bar.

SBE operates SLS hotels in Los Angeles and Miami—the latter debuted just last month—and is redeveloping the shuttered Sahara casino into a Las Vegas location. As with those properties, designer Philippe Starck will be handling the New York hotel’s interiors. There are no details yet on event space, but meeting rooms have been part of plans for all the other SLS hotels, with areas ranging from 2,000–40,000 sq. ft. Nazarian told USA Today that the project will be the first of many hotels and restaurants SBE hopes to open in New York in the next decade. usatoday.com
