Seminole Tribe Planning 1,000-Room Hotel Near Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida has proposed building a 1,000-room hotel at its Coconut Creek, Fla., casino. It would be one of the largest hotels in all of South Florida and twice as big as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino the tribe operates 20 miles south in Hollywood, Fla. It’s not clear whether the hotel would be branded as a Hard Rock Hotel. The tribe owns the Hard Rock brand and currently operates 16 properties worldwide, including three in Florida. The Coconut Creek facility is one of five casinos the tribe operates in Florida that are not part of the Hard Rock brand. The plan also calls for an expanded casino, retail shops, restaurants and a 2,500-seat theater. There is no timetable for its construction, and so far the project has completed only its first federal environmental review. sun-sentinel.com
