Permits Clear Way for Construction of World's Largest Ferris Wheel in Las Vegas
If you’re booking a meeting in Las Vegas for 40 people or less after 2013, you could have it on a Ferris wheel offering views of the Strip from 550 feet. Nevada's Clark County this week granted a permit for construction of the High Roller, which Caesars Entertainment Corp. plans to build as part of its $550 million open-air Linq development between Harrah’s Las Vegas Imperial Palace and Famingo Las Vegas casinos. It would be the largest observation wheel in the world, surpassing the 541-foot Singapore Flyer that opened in 2008. The design calls for 28 air-conditioned cabins, each with a capacity of 40 people. A full revolution would take 30 minutes. Another giant wheel, the 500-foot SkyVue, is under construction about 3 miles south across from Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. msnbc.msn.com
