New Technology at Dulles Airport Calculates Security Wait Times
Travelers at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia no longer have to wonder how long they’ll be waiting in security lines. New video screens display wait times calculated using video recognition software that measures the number of people in line and how long it is taking them to pass through the checkpoint. The technology, developed by French company Blue Eye Video, is installed at both of the main terminal’s security-screening mezzanines. The information is also featured on the airport’s website, which means that passengers can check the wait times on their smart phones as they arrive at the airport and head directly to the checkpoint with the fastest line. It is the first airport in the United States to offer such a service. bizjournals.com
