Minneapolis Hyatt Supports Local Manufacturing Through Renovation

The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis isn’t literally hanging a “Made in America” sign on its front door, but the hotel is touting its decision to support local manufacturing with its recently completed renovation. About 80% of the furnishings used in the $25 million project were produced in the U.S. and Canada, with a focus on firms within a 500-mile radius of Minnesota. For example, granite for bathroom countertops was quarried locally and purchased through Minnesota company Cold Spring Granite. The renovation updated the hotel’s 553 guest rooms, public areas and restaurants, with a design intended to highlight the region’s historic industries and Scandinavian heritage. (In one case, a commissioned artist created an image of Ingrid Bergman using 3M masking tape.) The property features 74,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. hyatt.com
