Hyatt Looks to Return to Kansas City With $80 Million Hotel
Hyatt Hotels Corp. has proposed a 220-plus-room hotel in Kansas City, Mo., near the Country Club Plaza district. The hotel would be part of a 12-story, $80 million development that would also include two stories of office space. The fifth floor would feature meeting space, though local news reports have not detailed the exact square footage. The project is being jointly developed by Hyatt and Block Real Estate Services of Kansas City, which owns the site. Assuming the developers secure a financing agreement from a city commission, the project would break ground in 2013 and take about two years to complete. It would represent a return of a full-service Hyatt hotel to Kansas City after the Hyatt Regency Crown Center was rebranded as a Sheraton in 2011. kansascity.com
