With winds and worries building, the New York Police Department has evacuated buildings surrounding the crane, including the Le Parker Meridien hotel.

Hotels that have been closed due to the mandatory evacuation of areas at high risk of flooding include the New York Marriott Downtown; The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park; Conrad New York; W New York–Downtown and Andaz Wall Street. Many other hotels in the city are fully booked, accommodating people from the evacuated areas as well as stranded travelers. hotelchatter.com
