FAA to Form Group to Study Smart-Phone Use on Flights

As it has hinted in the past, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed it is forming a working group with partners in the airline industry to study extending the period that passengers are allowed to use portable electronic devices, including smart phones. The group will meet for six months. It will not consider the use of cell phones to make voice calls, but it will consider whether devices that are approved for use while planes are cruising can also safely be used while planes are ascending and descending. bloomberg.com
