Developer Proposes Convention Hotel on Daytona Beach

A family of Russian developers has proposed a $100 million complex in Daytona Beach, Fla., that would feature 500 hotel rooms and 15,100 sq. ft. of meeting space. Designs for the project, tentatively named the Daytona Beach Convention Hotel & Condos, call for a pair of oceanfront towers, the taller of which would be 29 stories tall. The development company, Protogroup Inc., has bought 4.5 acres of property near the Daytona Beach Regency Resort that had been occupied by mostly older, smaller motels. Between now and February, the company will be going before various city boards to secure approval for the plan. The hotel would operate as an independent facility and could open by late 2015. news-journalonline.com
