American Airlines to Offer Lie-Flat Seats on Transcontinental Flights
American Airlines will become the first U.S. carrier to offer lie-flat seats on domestic flights. The airline intends to install the seats in some of the Airbus A321 aircraft it ordered last year as part of a deal to overhaul its fleet with 460 new planes. The seats will be available on transcontinental flights between New York and California starting in November 2013, once the airline begins phasing out the Boeing 767-200s currently in use. The cabin configuration will feature 10 of the reclining seats in first class, with one on each side of the aisle, and 20 in business class, with two on each side of the aisle. washingtonpost.com
