Presidential Appointment
The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, near Beverly Hills, may have had politics in mind when it decided to undertake a significant multiphase renovation, slated for completion this month. After all, when you’ve hosted every president since Lyndon B. Johnson—and with a new president coming to the Oval Office in less than a year—you’d better be ready.

In the revamped Presidential Suite, the next leader of the free world will enjoy an assortment of new appointments, such as 42-inch LCD TVs, universal cell-phone chargers, daily flower arrangements, snakeskin barstools and a chauffeur-driven Hummer. If Obama or McCain is camped out there the day you want to impress your CEO, well, she shouldn’t mind staying in any of the other 726 guest rooms, all of which have had significant makeovers as well.

There’s also plenty to do outside the rooms, like taking advantage of the Equinox Fitness Club + Spa, with 14 types of massage; the new X Bar, a sleek indoor/outdoor lounge; and the ever-popular Lobby Court & Patio, where all the “see and be seen” activities takes place.

As for meetings, the hotel is well-equipped with more than 100,000 sq. ft. of function space, including a 25,000-square-foot ballroom and several executive board rooms—perfect for your next stump speech.

It wasn’t a tough call to come up with a name for the new Grand View Lodge and Spa in Jackson Hole, Wyo. The hotel is situated just above the town of Jackson and beneath the towering Grand Teton range, and you could spend most of the day just sitting outside and soaking up the scenery. Then again, it would be an exercise in patience to sit still with so many tempting opportunities nearby—stalking the world’s largest herd of elk at the National Elk Refuge, barreling down dozens of world-class ski runs or taking a day trip to nearby Yellowstone National Park.

Scheduled to debut this June, the Grand View Lodge and Spa will feature 97 guest rooms and 9,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. (The new property is also partnered with the nearby Snow King Resort Hotel, which has more than 40,000 sq. ft. of meeting space available, making larger meetings possible.)

Grand View will also feature an 11,000-square-foot spa with a yoga studio, eight massage rooms and an outdoor spa with a sundeck. Just be sure to pack your binoculars.
