Choose Your Mood
It’s easy to be hip when you’re so close to San Francisco, so it’s no surprise that the nearby community of Sunnyvale’s newest hotel offers the latest in both innovation and style. Domain Hotel, with 124 rooms and 12 suites, seeks to return guests to a neutral state of mind with two themed room options— Awakening and Tranquility—which they may choose from when checking in or booking.

“Awakening” rooms stimulate the senses with bright, green colors and natural accents such as fresh lemongrass. “Tranquility” rooms, on theother hand, usher in the relaxation of the coast, with blue tones and lavender scents to promote a sense of calm. In addition to their therapeutic potential, all of the rooms are equipped with flat-panel HD TVs, complimentary wired and wireless Internet, and iPod docking stations. Guests will also quickly settle in with a complimentary nightly “wine-down” hour (featuring local California wines), a complimentary hot breakfast and a state-of-the-art business center.

As a Joie de Vivre Hospitality property, Domain Hotel offers 11,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, as well as an outdoor pool and lounge. Bytes, the on-site full-service restaurant, uses seasonally available fresh produce and is partnering with local vineyards to provide poolside wine-tasting. Wine, technology and mental health—can you get more Bay Area than that? jdvhotels.com/domain

Tenure
Closing your doors can be a good thing—especially when it means you get to gloriously reopen them a year later. The AAA Five-Diamond Camelback Inn, A JW Marriott Resort & Spa, is emerging from a major $40-million renovation that preserves the core of the historic venue while bringing it up-to-date with modern JW resort standards.

Set at the foot of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, Ariz., the resort has been around since 1936. Today—as the booming city of Scottsdale enjoys its new status as a major resort and meetings destination—the reinvented Camelback Inn offers 36 holes of championship golf, a 32,000-square foot spa with 32 treatment rooms, several restaurants and a number of swimming pools and tennis courts.

You can select from a wide variety of 453 rooms, from pueblo-style casitas to expansive suites with private swimming pools. The meeting space, in addition to being completely renovated, has also expanded to a grand total of 45,000 sq. ft., including the enlarged 20,000-square-foot Arizona Ballroom and two junior ballrooms. camelbackinn.com
