Team Building In A Box
June 2007
Did you Know
If you’d like to hang up the usual ropes-course idea for your next team-building event, consider something new and witty for your group: The Go Game, where no leaders are assigned yet everyone participates—even the shyest of players!
Similar to other team-building events, The Go Game challenges team members to step out of their comfort zones and make new ties. Think: scavenger hunt with a twist. Through a series of 10 missions designed to encourage team play, creative problem-solving and risk-taking, groups might find themselves posing with Wonder Woman in an ice cream parlor or hoola-hooping on a city sidewalk.
IT ALL STARTS WITH A SUPER-HERO LUNCHBOX.
Groups as small as 10 or as large as 1,000 are divided into teams that compete for points. The backdrop can be anywhere that cell phone reception is found—from casinos to resorts to cities in the U.S., Canada or Mexico. Each team gets a lunchbox carrying a map, a cell phone to transmit answers back to headquarters and a digital camera to document a team’s actions during the game.
Team members will feel as sly as 007 when they use the Web-enabled phone to download each mission, which can be customized with your company’s products or goals in mind. The search for clues, which are planted beforehand by Go Game producers, lasts about two hours. Warning: Professional actors are cleverly used throughout this game.
Soon after all the answers are transmitted back to headquarters from each team, everyone returns to the starting venue for a judging segment. After downloading each team’s ridiculous collection of photos, the Go Game producers quickly create a multimedia presentation that showcases team creativity and, undoubtedly, a few surprisingly outrageous photos of that notoriously shy coworker.
The team with the most points wins, of course, but nobody will care about that—they’ll be too busy laughing at themselves—a sure sign that their comfort zones have broadened and your mission: accomplished. thegogame.com
