Break in your new passport (you did take care of that, right?)

Head for the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort. Beautifully situated on the Sea of Cortés, this is the kind of resort where you can meet during the day, then hold your dinner or gala event on the beach in the evening, with delicious cuisine, mariachi music, spectacular sunsets—even a festive fireworks display.

There’s another plus here as well. The Hilton’s 375 ocean-view rooms have all undergone a redesign as part of a sophisticated, luxurious transformation of the Four-Diamond property (restaurants are next on the agenda).

Meeting space totals more than 11,300 sq. ft., including two ballrooms: the 7,593-square-foot El Dorado, which can accommodate 750 theater-style, and the 3,756-square-foot Las Montanas junior ballroom, which can host 370 theater-style. Outdoor space includes six terraces and the pool and beach area. Plus, there’s a 16,000-square-foot tented pavilion—the only one in Los Cabos.

At the Hilton, you’re not far from deep-sea fishing and championship golf. And if that’s not enough to round out your meeting, picture a 7,500-square-foot spa and a well-equipped fitness center. hiltonloscabos.com

THE BUTLER DID IT

If your invitation to stay at the Rothschild estate in Bordeaux seems to be lost in the mail, don’t worry: (a) ours is, too; (b) you can be treated like royalty at The Ivy, a brand-new 159-room boutique hotel in San Diego.

How royally? How about personal butler service, 24/7? While some hotels offer concierge-like butlers, this is the real deal: would-be butlers undergo intensive training at butler school to learn the proper skills.

Available to all guests, this service includes offering to unpack your bags, give your wardrobe a complimentary pressing, and clean and polish your shoes. They’ll serve and clear the evening’s amenity (also comp), offer to purchase or obtain any items you may need and offer to pack your bags for the return trip.

As part of their function, they also introduce the butler bath program, a luxurious extra in which they prepare your choice of an invigorating or a relaxing bath, with appropriate essential oils—with or without bubbles (sounds like a personal grand finale to celebrate your successful meeting!).

These well-trained butlers do everything, it seems, but buff your nails while you sleep. But, wait! That may come under the “assist guest with any nonstandard request” heading in their job description. ivyhotel.com
