In the face of such competition, the Mural Dining Room at Jackson Lake Lodge remains perfectly understated, with its menu of authentic Western cuisine and its hand-hewn furnishings. Soviet Foreign Minister Edvard Shevardnadze and U.S. Secretary of State James Baker found peace here as they negotiated the end of the Cold War in 1989.
