Meeting Professionals International (MPI) appointed Bren Clevenger-Ori, CAE, CMP as chief operating officer. Clevenger-Ori was vice president, program services with Promotional Products Association International,  also located in Dallas.

John Cooper was named president and CEO of the Yakima Valley (Wash.) Visitors and Convention Bureau, which also manages the Convention Center. He was president and CEO of Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism.

The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau promoted Steve Schell to vice president of sales and services, overseeing the hotel meetings sales division. He  was associate vice president of sales and services.

Kor Hotel Group appointed Julián Smaldoni general manager of The Tides Riviera Maya, a luxury boutique property in Playa del Carmen on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. He was general manager of Quinta Real Huatulco in Huatulco, Mexico.

Stacey G. Edinger was named director of sales for the Parc 55 hotel in San Francisco’s Union Square district. Prior to her appointment she was director of national accounts for Gaylord Hotels.

The Gant, a luxury condominium resort in Aspen, Colo. recently appointed Tommy Kearsey director of  conference services. He was director of conference services at The Aspen Meadows Resort prior to his  appointment at The Gant.
