YOUR WAKE-UP CALL From Christy
I have a top-decorator friend from Boston named Gary who once drove a rented car halfway across the Midwest in the middle of the night, in the middle of January—so crazy-desperate was he not to get on another airplane. Still groggy when he woke up in his motel room in La Mars, Iowa, he looked around, disoriented and dismayed at the shimmering blue polyester curtains and matching Herculon-encased armchairs only to blurt out “OHMYGOD! Have I redecorated?”Had Gary been staying at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, he might have re-entered the realm of the living with a gentle pre-programmed call from his significant other. (He probably wouldn’t have been terrified by the décor, either.)
Hyatt is launching its new, customized Hyatt Wake-Up Call service, whereby their guests’ nearest and dearest can record personalized wake-up call greetings for their traveling loved-ones. All wake-up calls are sent directly to the participating guests’ cell phones. The service is free and is available to Hyatt Gold Passport members, as well as those at the Diamond and Platinum level.
The really nice thing is that there’s more here than participants enjoying the pleasure of hearing a familiar voice first thing in the morning. Each time the member registers for a wake-up call, Hyatt will donate $1 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Hyatt’s Diamond and Platinum Gold Passport members will be able to subscribe annually for unlimited access to the calls.
To jump-start the launch, perennially-stunning supermodel Christie Brinkley—who is a businesswoman, environmentalist and mother of three—recorded two, limited edition wake-up greetings. She offers inspirational advice for the day, and reminds listeners not to hit the snooze button, as breakfast, and even a session at the gym, await.
“Being part of Hyatt’s Wake-Up Call launch is rewarding because it will help travelers like me stay connected with family while on the road,” says Brinkley. “Now your kids can still wake you up too early, even when you’re away!”
Both recordings are available for easy download at hyattwakeup.com, where you’ll find six simple steps to follow. Or call 866-387-1769 to schedule a call from someone you’d love to start your day with. I’d like to get this service at home, too; so, does anybody have Pierce’s number? C.H.
