As America’s first destination ski resort, Sun Valley Resort in Idaho has been a hot spot for celebrities, jet-setters and global leaders throughout its nearly 80-year history. Upon completion of a major renovation in June, Sun Valley now pays tribute to the stars with five luxury celebrity suites. Boasting 950 sq. ft. of space, each of the new suites is named after a famous person who has enjoyed the resort, including Ernest Hemingway, Marilyn Monroe and Clint Eastwood.
“From the moment the glamorous ski resort opened its doors in 1936 through today, Sun Valley has been synonymous with celebrities,” says Shannon Besoyan, resort archivist. “By the early 1940s, Sun Valley had become Hollywood’s favorite getaway and was an inspiration for the stars that stayed here. Our celebrity suites reflect the iconic brand that Sun Valley has long enjoyed with guests from all over the world.”
Looking for a little inspiration? Hemingway wrote much of his highly regarded novel For Whom the Bell Tolls in Room 228 of the lodge.
