Northwest testing higher fares
More than 4,000 Northwest Airlines routes got an $80 boost in roundtrip rates last week. The increase in fares is the first in nearly a month by any major U.S. airline and may be withdrawn if competitors don’t follow suit. Despite the downturn in oil prices, no airline has cut costs or raised fares enough to return to a profit.
