Lake Las Vegas short on cash and water
Five companies involved in the sprawling Lake Las Vegas project filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 17 and are hoping to get a $127 million loan approved to stop the 320-acre lake from draining into the desert. There is no concern about danger to people or property, but the two-mile-long lake is the centerpiece of the 3,593-acre development that includes several luxury hotels, homes and shopping.
