Highway One Reopens Following Big Forest Fires

The Big Sur region is back in business following the recent re-opening of Highway One between Carmel and San Luis Obispo on the Central California coast. The 90-mile stretch of highway reports no damage to tourism facilities following the massive Basin Complex Fire, and area lodgings anticipate rebounding to 90 percent occupancy levels later this month. Deetjen’s Big Sur River Inn plans to reopen July 18, and Ventana Inn & Spa will reopen its Cielo restaurant July 19—with its Inn & Spa re-launching August 1, following a revitalization of its surrounding landscape. mccvb.org
