Mexico is coming back, indeed. Four cruise lines that stopped visiting Mazatlan in 2011 due to crime reports at the time are returning to the beloved beach destination, now sporting a beautifully restored Colonial city center and burgeoning arts scene. There has been an 85 percent drop in crime during the past two years, and new Mexico President Enrique Pena Nieto is making it his priority to fight drug cartel violence. For example, Mazatlan has not experienced any incident involving tourists in two years. Tianguis Turistico, Mexico’s annual tourism show held three months ago in Puebla, had a higher attendance than expected, with several countries sending travel agents and tour wholesalers to explore the Mexican travel world for the first time.

Los Cabos boasts A-list everything, including world-class hotels, gourmet cuisine, plenty of outdoor recreation, the warm embrace of Mexican culture and jaw-dropping beauty (untouched by a Hollywood scalpel).

But what does Jennifer Aniston’s top vacation spot have to do with your meeting or event program? Everything! If Los Cabos is a fit for A-listers such as Aniston and George Clooney, then your attendees will certainly be happy here. Since each city offers a distinctive ambience, it is like two trips in one. The Hollywood elite have been seen golfing, swimming, fishing, sunbathing, sailing, exploring and enjoying the region’s many resorts—all jet-set pastimes that translate into fabulous pre- and post-meeting activities. And while the glitterati are sipping margaritas, your attendees can be gathering in high-tech meeting facilities.
