Destination Description
A picturesque Mexican state, Hidalgo has the look and feel of a supremely preserved traditional Mexican destination. Towns feature red-tiled roofs, ancient mines and vintage haciendas. Areas of the state have also been developed into recreation hubs where visitor can hike, bike and camp.
The capital city of Pachuca has preserved a series of baroque and neo-classical buildings, some of which are now home to art exhibits and other artifact-based exhibits. A large part of the state is known for its excellent food, specializing in pastes (turnovers) and baked barbacoa (a mutton dish).
