Destination Description
Located inland in the northwestern part of Mexico, Chihuahua is the largest state in the country, with a size that exceeds that of the United Kingdom. Named for the expansive desert of the same name at its center, the state has a varied climate ranging for the desert dryness to a more moist lush environment affording it the most forests in all of Mexico.
One of the state’s biggest draws is Copper Canyon, a natural formation larger and deeper than the Grand Canyon. The canyon has gained almost a mythic recognition for being the training ground of the Tarahumara, an indigenous tribe known for barefoot running impressive distances. To see the canyon, make this feat even more impressive, for the extreme temperatures, and tenuous terrain pose quite a challenge.
