Destination Guide | Santa Clara
SILICON VALLEY (SANTA CLARA)
By Carolyn Koenig
Santa Clara’s history reflects successive California eras, starting with the Franciscan missions and evolving from agriculture to viniculture and technology. Its restored mission, farmers’ markets, museums, theme parks and nearby wineries reflect them all.
You’ll find many of the major brand convention hotels in Santa Clara, among them the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara (“a significant change to our market,” Van Dorn says), the Hilton Santa Clara (280 rms, 6,400 sq. ft.; hiltonsantaclara.com) and the Santa Clara Marriott (744 rms, 23,500 sq. ft.; marriotthotels.com/sjcga). The Biltmore Hotel & Suites (237 rms, 15,000 sq. ft.; hotelbiltmore.com) also provides excellent meeting and event space.
Santa Clara’s lure for kids (of all ages) is Paramount’s Great America (up to 4,000 people; pgathrills.com), a rip-roarin’ theme park that works for events or excursions for families who’ve tagged along for the ride. Back to Top
